A man was charged with aggravated criminal contempt after an Auburn police officer found him walking with a person protected by a full stay-away order, according to the department.
James Vanfleet Jr. was arrested Oct. 8 near State and Seymour streets after officers responded to reports that he was violating the order.
Police said they confirmed that the order protected the person from Vanfleet.
The aggravated criminal contempt charge is a class D felony, and police said it was based on his prior convictions for first-degree criminal contempt.
Vanfleet was processed and transported to the Cayuga County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment.
