Carol Urbaitis, Finger Lakes Community College's vice president of enrollment management and a Canandaigua resident, has been named a 2026 Icon Honors recipient by the Rochester Business Journal.
FLCC said in an emailed news release that Urbaitis is among 20 honorees selected for an award recognizing Greater Rochester business leaders over 60 for professional leadership and community service. The Rochester Business Journal's event page describes the award and its December ceremony.
Urbaitis has worked at FLCC for 35 years, more than three decades of them in senior leadership. She oversees admissions, financial aid, marketing and the college's campus centers. She also chairs the FLCC Association Board of Directors, which oversees auxiliary services including housing, food service and child care.
The college credited Urbaitis with helping expand international student recruitment, a study-abroad partnership in Sicily and the inclusion of FLCC online programs in U.S. Department of Defense education offerings for enlisted personnel in medical and health care specialties.
FLCC President Robert Nye said Urbaitis helps bring together people across the college while working through complex issues. The Rochester Business Journal says its Icon Honors program considers professional accomplishments, leadership, a long-standing connection to the Rochester business community and sustained community service.
The honorees are scheduled to be recognized Dec. 14 at the Genesee Valley Club, 421 East Ave. in Rochester. A reception begins at 4 p.m., followed by the awards program at 5:15 p.m. and a dessert reception.
The release says honorees and sponsors receive first access to tables, which are available only with sponsorship. A limited number of individual tickets may be offered if space remains after the sponsorship deadline; the release did not specify a ticket-sale date.
Urbaitis is the FLCC representative among a group that also includes leaders from Rochester Regional Health, the Strong National Museum of Play, the Rochester International Jazz Festival and other Rochester-area organizations. The business journal plans to profile the honorees in its Dec. 18 issue and online.
