Ontario County senior picnic draws more than 100 to Clifton Springs

More than 100 Ontario County residents age 60 and older attended the county Office for the Aging's summer picnic Sept. 18 at John Brown Memorial Park in Clifton Springs.

The Office for the Aging and its advisory council organized the gathering at the park's historic pavilion, according to a county press release. The event brought residents together for lunch, outdoor games and live music.

Vasko's on Wheels served food, and The Dapper Rats, a group from The ARC Ontario, performed. The county did not report a precise attendance count beyond saying more than 100 residents took part.

Office for the Aging Director Triciajean Saxton said the turnout showed why the agency holds events that give older residents a chance to share a meal and spend time together. The office thanked its volunteers and community partners for their work on the picnic.

The agency said it is planning another picnic next year but did not announce a date or location. Residents seeking information about its programs and services can call the Ontario County Office for the Aging at 585-396-4040.
