Wayne County District Attorney Christine Callanan prosecuted two brothers in the 2024 killing of an Irondequoit family of four after a conflict of interest prevented the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office from handling the case, according to the Times of Wayne County.
Separate juries found Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano and Luis Francisco Soriano guilty of murder, arson, kidnapping and burglary on Sept. 22.
Callanan said the conflict arose because a Monroe County prosecutor had acted as a town justice in a matter connected to the investigation.
The five-week trial involved 54 witnesses, more than 400 exhibits and two juries hearing much of the evidence together.
Callanan said her office will remain involved through sentencing in November.
