Deputies were called to the residence around 9 p.m. for a reported domestic disturbance involving shots fired. Members of the New York State Police also responded after authorities learned a man inside the residence was reportedly armed with a firearm.

Police spent about 20 minutes attempting to safely secure Voorhees before taking him into custody without further incident, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators later determined that Voorhees allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and fired multiple shots in their direction as the person attempted to leave the area in a vehicle.

The Schuyler County Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation.

Voorhees was held for arraignment in centralized arraignment court and was subsequently remanded on bail, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The release did not provide information about injuries or the amount of bail set.
