A man convicted in a series of baseball equipment thefts from Dick's House of Sport at Eastview Mall has been sentenced to two to four years in state prison, the Ontario County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.
Frank Clark Jr. received the sentence Monday after pleading guilty to attempted third-degree grand larceny. An Ontario County Court judge imposed the prison term, according to the district attorney's release.
The case grew from an Ontario County Sheriff's Office investigation into repeated thefts between Nov. 8 and Dec. 27, 2025. Store personnel discovered bats and gloves were missing and reviewed surveillance footage that, according to the release, showed the same person repeatedly entering the store and concealing merchandise.
Investigators determined that a screwdriver was used to remove security sensors from baseball bats before the merchandise was concealed and taken without payment.
On Dec. 27, store employees recognized Clark inside the store and called deputies after seeing him remove a sensor from a bat and hide the bat in his clothing, the release said.
Deputies encountered Clark after he passed the points of sale and entered the mall. They took him into custody and recovered the concealed bat and a screwdriver.
The subsequent investigation attributed $8,479.76 in stolen merchandise to Clark over the period. District Attorney Jason MacBride credited store employees' documentation and the sheriff's office investigation for connecting the incidents.
Assistant District Attorney Paul Irving prosecuted the case.
