A new state Department of Health database reported 51 measles cases in New York, most of them upstate, according to Spectrum News.
The database listed 10 cases in Steuben County, nine in Seneca County, seven in Otsego County and six in Allegany County, all of which have vaccination rates below 80%.
The statewide count has already surpassed the 28 upstate cases recorded during all of last year.

Health officials urged residents to get the MMR vaccine, which is 97% effective after two doses, and said communities need about 95% coverage to prevent sustained spread.
