The Walworth Planning Board approved plans for an ice cream shop on Walworth-Penfield Road and a revision removing battery storage from a previously approved solar project during its Sept. 14 meeting.
The board granted Daniel Shade a special-use permit for an ice cream shop combined with an existing antique store at 647 Walworth-Penfield Road. The property is in Wayne County’s Hamlet District and has a Macedon mailing address.
Ice cream shop permit draws no public opposition
The board opened a public hearing on Shade’s application, but no one spoke. Members then closed the hearing and approved the permit by roll-call vote.
The resolution was approved with a correction identifying the address as 647 Walworth-Penfield Road. The meeting transcript recorded affirmative votes but did not identify individual board members or provide a clear vote total.
Plans containing additional details about the business are on file with the Walworth town clerk.
Solar project will proceed without battery storage
The board also approved Norbut Solar Farms LLC’s request to amend the site plan and special-use permit for its project at 1045 Kuttruff Road.
The revision removes the battery energy storage system and related facilities, including planned water infrastructure, from the previously approved solar development. The Kuttruff Road property is zoned RR-1.
The public hearing on that application had closed at the board’s August meeting. A project representative told the board that Wayne County had since reviewed the proposal and recommended approval of the amended site plan and special-use permit.
Board members approved the amendment by roll-call vote without additional discussion. As with the first application, the available transcript did not preserve a complete vote tally or associate votes with individual members.
The board also approved its Aug. 10 meeting minutes before adjourning.
Both principal applications passed, and no other development proposals were listed on the September agenda. The recorded portion of the meeting lasted less than four minutes.
