Three people were seriously injured Friday in a three-vehicle crash that closed Routes 5 and 20 in Hopewell for nearly three hours, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said an 18-year-old Geneva driver suffered potentially life-threatening injuries and was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital after the 10:53 a.m. collision near Algerine Street.
The Sheriff's Office said the driver was heading west in a 2014 Chrysler 300 and attempting to pass several vehicles when she entered the path of an eastbound 2018 Subaru Forester driven by a 55-year-old Geneva resident.
Investigators said the Subaru struck the Chrysler, causing it to rotate before it was hit again by an eastbound 2023 Kia Forte driven by a 41-year-old Victor resident.
The Subaru and Kia drivers were taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
New York State Police, the Hopewell Fire Department and Canandaigua Ambulance assisted at the scene. Routes 5 and 20 reopened at 1:44 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation, and deputies said no citations had been issued as of Friday afternoon.
