The accused leader of a nationwide marijuana trafficking organization has pleaded guilty, becoming the 25th and final defendant convicted in the federal case, prosecutors said.
Dwight A. Singletary II, 44, of Fresno, California, and Troy admitted leading a network that shipped thousands of kilograms of marijuana and THC products from California to locations across the country, including New York's Capital Region.
Federal prosecutors said the organization operated through a Fresno shipping business beginning in 2016 and concealed marijuana in dog-food containers and luggage sent by UPS and FedEx under false shipper names.
Between April 2017 and June 2022, about 1,292 packages containing 7,068 kilograms, or 15,582 pounds, of marijuana were shipped to the Capital Region alone, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York.
Singletary pleaded guilty Aug. 25. Sentencing information was not included in the government's announcement.
