A dump truck crashed into a building in the village of Victor Thursday morning, severing a natural gas line and forcing the evacuation of five nearby buildings.
The Victor Fire Department said crews were called to the crash at about 8 a.m. The truck struck natural gas utilities at the building, causing what firefighters described as a significant gas leak.
Rochester Gas and Electric responded and shut off the gas, stopping the leak.
New York State Police and the agency’s commercial vehicle enforcement unit were also at the scene investigating the cause of the crash.
The Farmington Volunteer Fire Association provided standby coverage while Victor firefighters handled the incident.
No injuries were reported in the fire department’s initial account.
