The Canandaigua Police Department reported 19 arrests and one criminal summons in cases ranging from impaired driving and alleged assaults to order-of-protection violations and outstanding warrants.
The department's latest blotter covers incidents from July 21 through Aug. 13. Several defendants were taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment, while others were released with appearance tickets for Canandaigua City Court.
Four drivers face impairment charges
Christopher R. Schuler, 54, of Canandaigua, was charged with driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop on Chapin Street at 1:23 a.m. July 25. Police said officers stopped his vehicle for a traffic violation and observed signs of intoxication. Schuler was taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
Colby D. Wilson, 22, of Bath, was charged with DWI after police stopped him for speeding on North Main Street at 12:18 a.m. July 31. Police said Wilson showed signs of intoxication. He was released to a third party with an appearance ticket.
Ashley E. Gilbert, 41, of Canandaigua, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs after police received a report of a woman asleep in a vehicle at the Speedway on Lakeshore Drive at 12:11 a.m. Aug. 3. Police alleged Gilbert had driven while under the influence of medication and showed signs of impairment. She was released to a third party with an appearance ticket.
Charles L. Muscarella, 50, of Webster, was charged with DWI following a North Main Street traffic stop for speeding at 1:14 a.m. Aug. 8. Police said Muscarella showed signs of intoxication. He was taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
Contempt, assault and harassment cases
Luke Schaefer, 18, of Canandaigua, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt after a reported order-of-protection violation at a South Main Street address at 5:24 a.m. July 25. Police alleged Schaefer picked up the person protected by a stay-away order. Ontario County sheriff's deputies located them in Victor and brought Schaefer to Canandaigua police before he was taken to the county jail for arraignment.
Alyna A. Lindenau, 32, was charged with third-degree assault after a disturbance at Thompson Hospital at 4:32 p.m. July 26. Police alleged Lindenau, who was a patient, kicked a nurse and caused serious injury. She was taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
Timothy Turner, 45, of Canandaigua, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt after a trespassing report at a South Main Street home at 3:39 a.m. July 30. Police alleged Turner trespassed in the home and violated a stay-away order of protection. He was taken to the county jail for arraignment.
Timothy J. Gay, 40, of Canandaigua, was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and second-degree criminal trespass after a report of threatening text messages at 4:34 p.m. Aug. 7. Police alleged Gay sent the messages, went to the recipient's home and tried to enter. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment at the Ontario County Jail.
Arianna Reynolds, 19, of Canandaigua, was served with a criminal summons for second-degree harassment at 7:48 a.m. Aug. 13. Police alleged Reynolds punched a doctor in the face while he treated her in an emergency room. She is due in Canandaigua City Court at a later date.
Mischief, larceny and public-order charges
Christian M. Downey, 26, of Newark, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief after a disturbance at a Phoenix Street address at 11:49 p.m. July 28. Police said Downey called 911 and reported that another person threatened him with a gun. Investigators alleged no weapon was displayed and that Downey punched out a vehicle window while trying to fight another person. He was released with an appearance ticket.
Jessica L. Carlson, 44, of Canandaigua, was charged with petit larceny after a reported theft at a West Avenue business at 6:22 a.m. July 30. Police alleged Carlson, an employee, took two beverages from a cooler without paying and consumed them behind the building. She was released with an appearance ticket.
Vincent Ruebens, 38, of Canandaigua, was charged with an open-container violation after an officer allegedly saw him walking on South Main Street with an open can of alcohol at 6:36 p.m. Aug. 2. He was released with an appearance ticket.
Zander Blevins, 24, of Clayton, Oklahoma, was charged with disorderly conduct after a reported fight outside a Lakeshore Drive business at 1:23 a.m. Aug. 9. Police said officers saw Blevins actively fighting another person. He was released with an appearance ticket.
Seven defendants arrested on warrants
Paul Miller, 37, of Waterloo, was arrested July 21 on a warrant issued after he allegedly failed to appear in Canandaigua City Court following a third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation charge. He was taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
Steven Flood Jr., 33, was arrested twice on bench warrants, first at a West Gibson Street address on July 21 and again Aug. 12. Police said the first warrant followed his failure to appear on third- and fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, third-degree assault and resisting arrest charges. Both arrests ended with Flood being taken to the county jail for arraignment.
Douglas A. Busch, 62, of Canandaigua, was arrested Aug. 3 on three bench warrants issued after he allegedly failed to appear in court on three separate charges. Tricia A. Chapel, 44, of Canandaigua, was arrested Aug. 4 on a bench warrant issued after she allegedly failed to pay a fine connected to an earlier arrest.
Daniel Vargas, 22, of Rochester, was arrested Aug. 5 on a bench warrant issued after he allegedly failed to appear in court following a previous arrest. Kyler H. Villareal, 25, of Canandaigua, was arrested Aug. 9 on a bench warrant issued after he allegedly failed to appear in court following a previous arrest.
Busch, Chapel, Vargas and Villareal were taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment, police said.
