Kyle Sage pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder and second-degree kidnapping in the death of Sam Nordquist, according to the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office.
Sage entered the plea before Judge Kristina Karle in Ontario County Court and waived his right to appeal. Prosecutors said Sage is a second felony offender and faces a possible sentence of 40 years to life in state prison.
Sage is scheduled to be sentenced at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 2 before Karle.
First Assistant District Attorney James Nobles said the plea holds Sage accountable for his role in Nordquist’s kidnapping and murder and represents another step toward justice for Nordquist and his family. Senior Assistant District Attorney Robin Catalano joined Nobles in handling the proceeding for the prosecution.
The district attorney’s office said Nordquist’s family was consulted about the resolution and continues to receive updates as the case proceeds.
Criminal charges remain pending against other defendants in the case, according to prosecutors.
