The Latino Health Coalition will bring free health screenings and essential community resources to International Plaza in Rochester during a public event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21.
Unidos Por La Salud, or United for Health, will connect residents with health care and insurance information, employment and job training opportunities, housing assistance, legal services, financial literacy help and other community organizations.
The free, family-friendly event will be held at 828 N. Clinton Ave. It will also include food provided through Foodlink and International Plaza partners, live music from Poder 97.1 FM, children's games, balloon art and voter registration opportunities.
Julio Jordan, chair of the Latino Health Coalition, said access to housing, food, employment, legal services and financial resources can affect a person's health and quality of life. He said the event is intended to put those services in one accessible location.
The coalition has served the Rochester community for more than 30 years and works to improve health equity for Latino residents across the Rochester-Finger Lakes region, according to the release.
The event is open to everyone.
