Arizona man killed in Route 104 crash in Ontario

An 80-year-old Arizona man died Wednesday morning after two vehicles collided at State Route 104 and Furnace Road in the Town of Ontario, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said a preliminary investigation found Richard J. Curran of Tempe, Arizona, was driving west on Route 104 around 6:20 a.m. and attempting to turn south onto Furnace Road when his vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Ridley T. Hall, 28, of Webster.

Emergency responders found Curran dead at the scene, the sheriff's office said. Hall was taken by Wayne County Ambulance Service to Strong Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

Both vehicles were towed and impounded as the sheriff's office and its crash reconstruction team continued investigating the cause of the collision.

Ontario and Williamson fire departments, Ontario and Williamson emergency medical services and Wayne County Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
