A Trumansburg man was charged with misdemeanor drug possession after Cayuga County sheriff's deputies responded to a dispute near an outdoor fire in the town of Scipio.
Deputies arrested Joshua E. Donahue, 39, at about 3:50 p.m. Aug. 2 after responding to a Route 34 address to assist firefighters, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office said deputies learned Donahue had an active warrant from Ithaca police. While detaining him on the warrant, deputies allegedly found a white powder that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Donahue was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was processed and released on an appearance ticket for Scipio Town Court at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24.
Deputies then turned Donahue over to the Ithaca Police Department on the outstanding warrant.
