A Scipio man faces unlawful imprisonment and menacing charges after deputies said he kept a woman from leaving a home and threatened her during a domestic incident.
Eric Kessler, 42, was arrested Oct. 8 after Cayuga County sheriff's deputies responded to the Scipio home around 10:18 p.m., according to Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Deputies said Kessler locked the door and refused to let them in, but they could see the woman inside and she indicated that she needed help. Deputies forced entry and took Kessler into custody.
Investigators said Kessler threatened the woman with a closed fist and refused to let her leave when she asked. He was charged with second-degree unlawful imprisonment and obstructing governmental administration, both class A misdemeanors, and third-degree menacing, a class B misdemeanor.
Kessler was arraigned Oct. 9, with bail set at $2,500 cash or a $5,000 bond. He later posted bail and is due in Scipio Town Court on Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m.
