Pioneer Companies announced Wednesday that Mark Manning has returned as chief financial officer and Robert A. Romeo has joined the real estate firm as general counsel.
Manning will oversee the company's financial strategy and operations. Romeo will focus on transaction strategy, development planning, owner representation and long-term real estate positioning, according to the company.
Manning previously spent 17 years with Pioneer, advancing from financial reporting roles into senior leadership and serving as chief financial officer. The company said he helped develop financial systems that supported its growth and strengthened relationships with capital partners before gaining additional public- and private-sector experience.
Romeo is a partner at Syracuse-based Romeo & Romeo, P.C. Pioneer said he has decades of experience advising developers, investors, business owners and property stakeholders on commercial real estate matters across Central New York.
Michael P. Falcone, Pioneer's chair and chief executive officer, said Romeo's experience will support the company's plans to grow its assisted living portfolio and evaluate additional opportunities in that sector. Falcone said Manning brings institutional knowledge and outside perspective to the financial role.
Pioneer is a Syracuse- and Rochester-based real estate development and management firm. Its work includes development, construction, brokerage, property management, asset management and hospitality.
