Two drivers were taken to Rochester General Hospital with minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash damaged equipment powering a traffic signal at Route 104 and Lincoln Road in the Town of Ontario, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded shortly before 8 a.m. Monday, July 27, after receiving several 911 calls and automatic crash notifications. They found two vehicles that had collided in the intersection and an RG&E meter that had been struck, cutting power to the traffic lights.
Investigators said Revlyn Mitrano of Ontario was traveling west on Route 104 and stopped at the traffic light before attempting to turn south onto Lincoln Road. Deputies said Mitrano failed to yield to an eastbound vehicle.
The vehicles collided at a right angle, and the eastbound vehicle left the roadway and struck the meter powering the traffic signal, according to the sheriff's office.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Deputies issued traffic tickets to Mitrano, though the release did not identify the specific violations.
The Ontario Fire Department, Ontario EMS, Wayne County Ambulance, Wayne County medics, State Police and the state Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
