The Yates County Legislature will hold a public workshop Oct. 27 on the proposed 2027 county budget, with a second session Oct. 28 if more time is needed.
The special meeting starts at 9 a.m. in the Legislative Chambers at 417 Liberty St. in Penn Yan and will also be available on Zoom, according to a Sept. 28 notice from county Legislature Clerk Emilee Miller.
The county expects to make the proposed budget available on its website on or after Oct. 23. The notice does not include budget totals, a proposed tax levy or department-by-department figures.
A draft resolution attached to the notice would adopt a tentative 2027 budget as filed by the county budget officer and revised by legislators. It is a proposed action for the Oct. 27 or 28 meeting, not a decision already made.
The same draft resolution would set a budget public hearing for Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. in the Legislative Chambers. Residents would have another opportunity to review the tentative budget before that hearing if the Legislature takes the proposed action.
