A Port Byron man faces burglary and other charges after State Police said two domestic incidents in Wayne County included an alleged assault, unlawful imprisonment and vehicle collision.
Craig E. Laird, 38, was arrested Wednesday following an investigation into incidents at a Pinewood Drive residence in the town of Wolcott.
Police said Laird entered the victim's home without permission during the early morning hours Sunday. A verbal argument allegedly became physical, and the victim was unlawfully confined, according to State Police.
The following day, police said Laird confronted the victim while the person was driving. Laird allegedly drove toward the victim's vehicle, causing a collision and property damage, then left the area.
Troopers later found Laird inside the victim's residence while the incident was active and took him into custody without further incident.
Laird was charged with second-degree burglary, aggravated family offense and third-degree criminal mischief, all felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of second-degree unlawful imprisonment and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.
He was processed at the State Police barracks in Wolcott and taken to the Wayne County Jail for centralized arraignment. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
The charges are accusations, and Laird is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
