Corning Inc. celebrated its 175th anniversary with a public event in Centennial Park, according to WENY-TV. The company offered free food, limited-time merchandise, parking, live music, lawn games, fireworks and a lighting of Little Joe Tower.
The celebration was held Wednesday night in downtown Corning.
Company officials said the event was meant to recognize employees, families and the community that has supported Corning's growth.
The company began in 1851 with about 300 employees and now has more than 60,000 employees globally.
Corning Inc. has long been tied to Steuben County through products ranging from early television components to railway lanterns.
