West Babylon man charged with DWI after Waterloo traffic stop

A West Babylon man was charged with driving while intoxicated after deputies said they stopped him for speeding in the town of Waterloo.

The Seneca County Sheriff's Office said Erik J. Kessler, 42, was arrested at about 12:52 in the morning July 16 on Border City Road.

Deputies conducted a DWI investigation during the traffic stop and took Kessler into custody, according to the sheriff's office.

Kessler was taken to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center, where authorities said he provided a breath sample showing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.17%.

He was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit. Kessler was processed and released on appearance tickets.

The charges are allegations, and Kessler is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
