The New York Yankees’ scheduled game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday was postponed because of a forecast calling for sustained inclement weather, the team announced. Rather than wait for conditions to improve, the Yankees rescheduled the matchup as a split-admission doubleheader on Sunday at Yankee Stadium.
The opener is set for 12:35 p.m. and will air on YES Network, while the second game will remain at its originally scheduled 7:20 p.m. start and be televised nationally on NBC and Peacock. The early start comes just hours before the FIFA World Cup final is scheduled to kick off at MetLife Stadium in nearby East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The postponement also leaves New York’s pitching plans uncertain. Ryan Weathers had been scheduled to face Emmett Sheehan in Saturday’s game, while Cam Schlittler was lined up to oppose Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Sunday’s series finale. The Yankees have not announced whether those projected pitching matchups will remain in place for the doubleheader.
