State fisheries staff will hold two public meetings in August to discuss ongoing walleye research in Irondequoit and Sodus bays and seek help from anglers collecting data. The meetings are scheduled for Aug. 3 in Rochester and Aug. 4 in Sodus, with both sessions running from 6 to 7:30 p.m. each evening.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation said information gathered with anglers' help will be used to guide future walleye management strategies in the two Lake Ontario embayments. Regional fisheries staff will present the current research and take questions from the public.
The Aug. 3 meeting will be held at the Irondequoit Bay Fish and Game Club, 658 Bay Front Lane South in Rochester.
The Aug. 4 session will take place at the Sodus Community Library, 17 Maple Ave. in Sodus.
DEC said anglers' participation is important to expanding the data available for the research. Both meetings are open to public discussion.
