Newfield Community Good Neighbor Fund supports residents

The Newfield Community Good Neighbor Fund is seeing utility bills emerge as a major need among local residents, according to Tompkins Weekly. About half of the 11 requests approved so far this year have involved NYSEG bills.

The volunteer nonprofit provides financial help for needs such as rent, car repairs, medical bills and emergency expenses.

The group also is the primary funder of the Newfield Kitchen Cupboard Food Pantry.

The organization caps assistance at $400 per household each year and requires recipients to have lived in Newfield for at least six months.

The fund holds public meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at Newfield Town Hall.
