A Newfield man faces felony burglary and theft-of-services charges after state police said he entered a vacant apartment and ran a power cord from it to his own unit.
Scott Goodrich, 62, was arrested Wednesday following an investigation at an apartment building on Elmira Road in Newfield, according to New York State Police.
Investigators said Goodrich lived in another apartment at the property and illegally entered the vacant unit to obtain electricity for his residence.
Goodrich was charged with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony, and theft of services, a misdemeanor.
He was processed at the state police barracks in Ithaca and taken to the Tompkins County Jail for centralized arraignment.
The charges are allegations, and Goodrich is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
