New York Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs said the party is preparing for the November general election after nearly 1 million New Yorkers voted in the 2026 Democratic primary.
The state party said early primary voting nearly tripled compared with 2024. Jacobs said Democrats are entering the midterm cycle with momentum from recent local election gains across the state.
In a statement, Jacobs said Democrats are "united and ready to win this November" and pointed to candidates running on issues including costs, health care and public safety.
The party cited last year's off-cycle races, including gains in county legislative seats and a shift in control of the Onondaga County Legislature for the first time in nearly 50 years.
Jacobs said Democrats are preparing for the Nov. 3 general election with Gov. Kathy Hochul and Adrienne Adams at the top of the ticket.
The statement was issued by the New York State Democratic Committee.
