Poplar Ridge responds to barn fire on Route 34B

Multiple fire departments were called to a barn fire on Route 34B in the Poplar Ridge area, according to Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire.

The fire wire reported that Poplar Ridge, Scipio, Fleming, Long Hill, Aurora and Union Springs fire departments were called to the scene, along with Southern Cayuga Ambulance.

Updates from the fire wire said Poplar Ridge Engine 1, Tanker 1 and Fleming command were on scene.

The barn was reported to be nearly down during the response, according to the updates. Mutual aid was later canceled by command as the barn was being torn down.

Crews were also expected to briefly close the road during the response.

No additional details about injuries or the cause of the fire were included in the report.
