An Auburn man was sent to the Cayuga County Jail after police said he punched his girlfriend in the face during a domestic dispute earlier this month.
Anthony Daniels was arrested June 15 following an investigation into a June 4 incident on Genesee Street, according to the Auburn Police Department.
Police said an officer assigned to investigate a domestic violence complaint spoke with the victim, who reported she had been involved in a verbal argument with Daniels in downtown Auburn.
During the dispute, Daniels allegedly punched the woman in the face, causing swelling and bruising, according to police.
Authorities said Daniels’ prior domestic violence history elevated the case to a felony-level offense.
Daniels was charged with aggravated family offense, a Class E felony, and third-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor.
Following processing at Auburn Police Headquarters, Daniels was arraigned and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail.
