A Painted Post man has been sentenced to state prison after admitting he repeatedly threatened a protected individual in violation of a court-issued order of protection.

Trevor J. Dobson, 43, pleaded guilty in Schuyler County Court on March 26 to criminal contempt in the first degree, a Class E felony, according to Schuyler County District Attorney Jeremy Hourihan.

During his plea, Dobson admitted he communicated with a protected party despite being prohibited from doing so by an order of protection. Prosecutors said the communications were intended to place the victim in fear of physical injury or death and included multiple text and video messages containing threats.

County Court Judge Matthew C. Hayden sentenced Dobson on June 4 to a prison term of one to three years.

The case was investigated by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office.
