Canandaigua man taken into custody after resisting arrest

A police encounter on North Pearl Street resulted in the arrest of a Canandaigua man on resisting arrest and open container charges, according to authorities.

Thomas Daniels, 31, of Canandaigua, was arrested at about 2:57 p.m. June 9 after officers observed him drinking an alcoholic beverage on North Pearl Street.

Police said Daniels resisted officers while they attempted to place him into custody. He was subsequently charged with resisting arrest and an open container violation.

Authorities also discovered that Daniels was wanted on a bench warrant issued by City of Canandaigua Court after he allegedly failed to appear on the same charges stemming from a previous incident.

Daniels was transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
