A national discount retailer is headed to Newark, with village officials announcing that Ollie’s plans to open a new store in the Arcadia Shopping Plaza later this year.
Village leaders said the store is expected to open in late September, bringing one of the country’s largest closeout and overstock retail chains to Wayne County.
Ollie’s began in 1982 selling overstock and closeout merchandise. The company has since grown to more than 600 locations across 34 states, offering discounted prices on a wide range of household goods, food, books, seasonal items and other products.
Mayor Jonathan Taylor said village officials are excited to welcome the retailer, noting that its focus on affordable pricing and value is expected to appeal to Newark residents and shoppers from surrounding communities.
The addition marks another tenant for the Arcadia Shopping Plaza as local officials continue efforts to attract new businesses and investment to the area.
