Artworks Gallery featuring nature-inspired works by Fran Grasek

A new exhibition featuring the work of Finger Lakes artist Fran Grasek is on display this month at Artworks Gallery in downtown Seneca Falls.

The Seneca County Arts Council announced that Grasek’s artwork is being showcased in Abby’s Gallery from June 4 through June 30. Grasek, a longtime Finger Lakes resident, draws inspiration from nature and is known for watercolor and ink pieces that emphasize texture, movement and the character of wildlife.

An avid birder and outdoor enthusiast, Grasek often focuses on subjects encountered in nature. Her owl portraits, in particular, were inspired by encounters with rescue owls and are intended to create a connection between the viewer and the animal being depicted.

Grasek began exhibiting her work in recent years after developing her artistic skills through workshops, online classes and experimentation. Her artwork has appeared in exhibitions at the Dove Block Project, Tompkins County Public Library, Cummings Nature Center and other juried shows throughout the region.

Artworks Gallery, located at 109 Fall St., is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is staffed by volunteers.
