Fleming man charged with aggravated DWI after deputy spots speeding vehicle

A Fleming man was arrested on drunk driving charges after a Cayuga County sheriff’s deputy allegedly observed him speeding and passing another vehicle in a no-passing zone early May 23.

Sheriff Brian Schenck said deputies arrested 54-year-old Jeffery N. Dixon around 1:13 a.m. following a traffic stop near Willow Brook Road and State Route 34 in the Town of Fleming.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on patrol observed a southbound vehicle traveling 75 mph in a posted 55 mph zone before allegedly passing another vehicle in a no-passing zone. The deputy stopped the vehicle on Willow Brook Road near Route 34.

Investigators said Dixon was taken into custody after further investigation at the scene and transported to the sheriff’s office, where he provided a breath sample measuring 0.16% blood alcohol content.

Dixon was charged with DWI first offense, DWI per se, and additional vehicle and traffic law violations. He was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Fleming Town Court on June 9 at 4:30 p.m.
