Two Wayne County school districts won nearly $1 million in court judgments after a company hired to manage teacher dental payments allegedly failed to pay bills, according to News10NBC.
A judge awarded Sodus Central School District more than $725,000 and North Rose-Wolcott nearly $196,000 against Health Economics Partners and owner Zacchary Weber. The company had been responsible for handling dental benefit payments funded by school employees, but providers and staffing agencies said checks stopped arriving and some bounced.
The judgments were issued by default after the company failed to respond in court. Interest will continue accumulating at 9% annually, while attorneys say tens of thousands in legal fees are also tied to the case.
