Wayne-Finger Lakes high school sports: May 16 scoreboard

Saturday delivered plenty of action across the Wayne-Finger Lakes as several teams took the field for the final time before postseason play begins.

Wayne boys lacrosse survived a one-goal battle with Honeoye Falls-Lima behind a huge day from Paxton Landon, while Penn Yan’s offense stayed red-hot with big performances from Miles Ditzell and Braden Fingar. Lyons softball piled up 16 hits as Keira Weber struck out 13, Geneva softball leaned on another strong outing from Carmela Mazzocchi, and Mynderse baseball capped the day with an extra-inning walk-off win over Penn Yan after Caleb Mahoney’s four-hit performance.

The Lions erupted for 16 hits in the win over the Spartans, highlighted by Keira Weber’s dominant all-around performance. Weber struck out 13 over seven innings in the circle while also tripling and driving in two runs at the plate. Brooke Folsom went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and three stolen bases, while Gabby Aunkst and Kamryn Bonnell each delivered run-scoring doubles. Rylee Richardson added an inside-the-park home run as Lyons swiped five bases overall.

The Panthers were led by Carmela Mazzocchi in the circle, as she struck out 10 batters in the win over the Screaming Eagles. Ella Chambers paced the Geneva offense with three hits, including a double, while scoring twice. Danielys Santiago added two hits, a double and two runs scored, while Kate Good reached base three times and scored twice. For Midlakes, Kenzie Turner and Emily Smith each collected two hits, with Smith adding a double.

The Blue Devils outlasted the Mustangs in eight innings behind a huge day from Caleb Mahoney, who went 4-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and two runs scored while also throwing out two runners on the bases. Michael Miller struck out 11 over more than six innings on the mound for Mynderse. Carter Fisher delivered a game-tying RBI single in the seventh before Josh Hutchins drew a walk-off hit-by-pitch in the eighth. For Penn Yan, Darangelo went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
