Auburn firefighters conduct specialized rescue training exercises

Firefighters in Auburn spent recent shifts training with specialized rescue equipment as part of ongoing efforts to prepare crews for complex emergency situations.

The Auburn Fire Department said crews conducted a low-angle rescue training scenario Saturday using equipment including the Arizona Vortex system, capstan equipment, ropes, rigging gear and rescue basket operations.

Department officials said firefighters also spent time earlier in the week reviewing and training with additional rescue and support equipment carried on Rescue 1, including a capstan winch, confined space air cart, SCBA pack operations, portable lighting systems and generators.

The department said the hands-on training is intended to ensure firefighters remain prepared to safely respond to a wide range of emergency incidents throughout the community.

“Regular hands-on training ensures our members remain prepared to safely and effectively handle a wide variety of emergency incidents our community may face,” the department said in a statement.
