A Savannah woman was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital Monday morning after deputies said a large rock crashed through the windshield of a vehicle traveling along State Route 5&20 in Ontario County.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said emergency crews responded around 8:31 a.m. to the area of Route 5 and 20 and Seneca Castle Road in the Town of Seneca for a reported personal injury crash involving a vehicle struck by a rock. Investigators determined the rock had been dislodged from the roadway by an unknown vehicle before smashing through the windshield of a westbound car.
Deputies said 49-year-old Rebecca S. Bocyck, of Oswego, was driving the vehicle when the rock entered the passenger compartment and struck 69-year-old Jacqueline Bocyck, of Savannah, in the head.
Jacqueline Bocyck was transported by Mercy Flight Ambulance to Mercy Flight Central’s base before being airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Seneca Castle Fire Department, Stanley Fire Department and Mercy Flight Ambulance assisted at the scene.
