Wayne-Finger Lakes high school sports: April 28 scoreboard

A flurry of high-scoring games and late-game drama defined Tuesday’s action across the Wayne-Finger Lakes.

In boys lacrosse, Evan Shulla piled up nine points for Newark, while Jackson Dennie scored six goals to lead Palmyra-Macedon and Midlakes saw balanced scoring in a dominant effort. Wayne also edged Geneva behind a big game from Shane Coleman in one of the day’s tightest contests.

On the softball diamond, Lyons walked it off behind a 12-hit attack, Dundee/Bradford got a five-RBI performance from Autumn Harris, and Mynderse stayed unbeaten with another strong outing from Haley Young.

The Lions secured a walk-off win, with Gabby Aunkst driving in the winning run in the seventh as part of a 12-hit offensive effort. Carmella Parker led the lineup with three hits, while Lydia Briggs, Kamryn Bonnell, Aunkst and Parker each drove in two runs. Rylee Richardson earned the win in relief, striking out five over two innings of one-run ball. For the Spartans, Genevieve VanDerbroek drove in four runs and recorded two hits.

Haley Young earned the win for the Blue Devils, allowing two earned runs over seven innings with three strikeouts. Mackenzie McCann drove in three runs and added a double, while Kyah Lajewski scored a run and Hannah O’Brien chipped in a double.

Adalyn Tham led the BraveScots with two hits, including a triple, while Autumn Harris drove in five runs and added a double. Korrin Yeoman and Maddie Knapp also contributed doubles as part of the offensive effort. Emily Rosno earned the win, allowing two runs over three innings. For the Bombers, Evalynn Howlett went 4-for-4 and Calla McCombs added two hits, including a double.
