The New York Yankees continued their surge on Friday night, rolling past the Houston Astros 12-4 behind a four-home run outburst at Minute Maid Park. With the victory, New York pushed its win streak to seven games, while Houston dropped its fifth straight at home.
New York jumped ahead early and never let up, using a three-run first inning to set the tone. Jazz Chisholm Jr. delivered the big blow with a two-run single before adding a solo homer later in the game as part of a four-RBI night. Ryan McMahon sparked the power display with a solo shot in the second, while Ben Rice and José Caballero each went deep during a decisive seventh inning that broke the game open.
The offense stayed aggressive throughout, piling up runs across multiple innings. Giancarlo Stanton added an RBI single in the sixth before exiting later in the frame with right leg tightness. Aaron Judge reached base three times via walks, helping keep pressure on Houston’s pitching staff.
On the mound, Will Warren provided another steady outing. The right-hander worked six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out six to improve to 3-0 on the season. He has now held opponents to two runs or fewer in five of his six starts.
Houston got production from Yainer Diaz, who homered and drove in two runs, but struggled to keep pace as New York’s lineup continued to produce.
The Yankees will look to keep the momentum going on Saturday when they face the Astros in the second game of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m., with Ryan Weathers set to take the mound for New York.
