A Lyons man remains jailed following an arrest tied to a grand jury indictment, but authorities are now asking the public to disregard key details that were released too soon.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office issued a formal retraction after prematurely disclosing information related to the case involving 56-year-old Thomas E. Finewood, who was taken into custody April 19 on a Superior Court warrant.
Officials said the indictment tied to the arrest has not yet been unsealed, meaning details about the charges cannot legally be released at this time. As a result, the Sheriff’s Office is requesting that any previously shared information about the indictment not be published or circulated.
Finewood was arrested around 8:34 a.m. and is currently being held at the Wayne County Jail pending arraignment in Superior Court.
The original release, issued earlier the same day, included information that investigators now say should not have been made public. Authorities apologized for the error and said the retraction is necessary to protect the integrity of the legal process.
No additional details about the indictment will be released until it is formally unsealed.
