Traffic stop in Chemung County leads to felony weapon charge, multiple violations

ELMIRA — A routine traffic stop in Chemung County led to the arrest of a Pennsylvania man on a felony weapons charge and several vehicle-related violations, according to New York State Police.

Marc Alan Bundy, 27, of Millmont, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody April 13 after a state trooper observed his pickup truck traveling without a front license plate, inspection sticker or seatbelt along Corning Road in the town of Elmira.

Police said the trooper initiated a stop as the vehicle pulled into a nearby business and observed a loaded handgun partially concealed under the center console. The firearm was secured, and Bundy was found to have a suspended New York driver’s license along with active warrants from Elmira and Elmira Heights.

Authorities determined Bundy did not have a valid pistol permit. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to State Police barracks in Horseheads for processing.

Bundy was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, along with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and traffic violations.

He was arraigned in Elmira Heights Village Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail on bail.
