A long-running community giveaway aimed at supporting residents and local families will return next month as Seneca Meadows prepares for its 23rd annual Mulch Day.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 23 from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Seneca Meadows facility on Salcman Road, where Seneca County residents can receive free hardwood mulch while supplies last.
According to organizers, participants can receive two scoops of mulch loaded by equipment or two containers filled by hand per household. The mulch, available in black and natural brown, is sourced from a local business and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Residents are asked to remain in their vehicles and follow traffic directions for safety during the event, which is limited to Seneca County households.
The giveaway will again feature a “Christmas in May” component, partnering with Waterloo High School Honor Society students to collect new, unopened toys for the Seneca County Community Christmas Project. While donations are optional, organizers encourage participants to contribute if they are able.
The annual event highlights both environmental stewardship efforts and community support initiatives, drawing residents from across the county each year.
