Waterloo police arrested a village resident Friday after a domestic incident in which he is accused of seriously injuring another person and obstructing that person's breathing.
Aleem Whitfield, 36, was charged with second-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing, according to a Waterloo Police Department arrest release.
Officers arrested Whitfield at about 5:01 a.m. Oct. 9, police said.
He was taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment and later released on his own recognizance.
An order of protection was requested on the victim's behalf, according to the release. It did not say whether a court granted the request.
