A mix of extra-inning drama, overpowering pitching, and high-powered offenses set the tone across the Wayne-Finger Lakes on Thursday night, with Wayne softball needing extra frames to prevail and Mynderse’s Haley Young turning in a dominant outing in the circle. Waterloo baseball pieced together a complete performance, and Penn Yan’s girls lacrosse team continued its strong start to the season.

Lyons erupted early and never let up, fueled by a dominant day at the plate from Lydia Briggs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. A massive first-inning surge set the tone, and the offense stayed hot behind multi-hit efforts from Briggs and Rylee Richardson, while drawing 11 walks as a team. In the circle, Lyons received a strong combined effort, with Elise Wilkinson tossing three scoreless innings before Richardson closed it out, striking out five over two innings. Defensively, Lyons was clean throughout, finishing without an error while consistently applying pressure offensively with 15 total hits.
