A structure fire early Wednesday destroyed a home on State Route 96A in Ovid, according to the Ovid Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to 5931 State Route 96A at about 6:05 a.m., where the first arriving unit confirmed a working fire.
Mutual aid crews from Varick, Romulus, Lodi, Interlaken, and Fayette also responded, along with the Seneca County Sheriff’s Department and South Seneca Ambulance.
Officials said all occupants and pets escaped safely, but the home was a total loss.



Additional departments from Border City, Canoga, and Trumansburg provided coverage during the incident.
Crews were later called back to the scene at 1:43 p.m. for a rekindle and cleared the scene again around 4 p.m.
