Wall Street bonuses reached a record $49.2 billion in 2025, according to the New York State Comptroller’s Office.
The average bonus rose 6% to $246,900 as industry profits increased more than 30% to $65.1 billion.
The report said strong trading activity, underwriting and account management fees drove the gains.
Employment in the securities industry dipped slightly to 198,200 jobs in 2025, down from 201,500 in 2024.
The comptroller’s office said the industry remains a major contributor to state and city tax revenues.
Bonuses are expected to generate an additional $199 million in state income tax revenue and $91 million for New York City compared to the previous year.
