Trailer fire damages equipment near Canandaigua pizza shop

Flames tore through a trailer outside a Canandaigua pizza shop Monday afternoon, drawing deputies and firefighters to the scene.

Ryan C. Schmeer, 35, of Middle Cheshire Road in Canandaigua, was listed by authorities as a person at the scene. However, additional details about their involvement were not released.

Ontario County deputies and the Canandaigua Fire Department responded around 2:40 p.m. to Perri’s Pizza at 2485 State Route 332 in the Town of Canandaigua for a reported trailer fire.

By the time crews arrived, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and remained on scene to monitor the trailer. Authorities said the trailer and equipment inside suffered severe damage.

The fire began inside the trailer and investigators believe a mechanical issue caused it.

Minor damage also occurred to the exterior of Perri’s Pizza and a bystander’s vehicle parked nearby. No injuries were reported.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident.
