The Buffalo Bills are bringing back punter Mitch Wishnowsky after he impressed during a midseason stint in 2025.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Buffalo agreed to a one-year deal with the veteran specialist. Wishnowsky, who turned 34 on March 3, stabilized the Bills’ punting situation after the team cycled through multiple options during the season.
Buffalo opened the year with Brad Robbins handling punting duties before releasing him and signing Cameron Johnston. Johnston lasted just three games before suffering a knee injury, forcing the Bills to turn to Wishnowsky. The Australian-born punter quickly proved to be the most reliable option of the group.
In 38 punts with Buffalo, Wishnowsky averaged 45.3 yards per attempt with a 41.3 net average while pinning opponents inside the 20-yard line 18 times. His consistency helped solidify the Bills’ special teams unit during the second half of the season.
Wishnowsky also showed versatility late in the year. When veteran kicker Matt Prater dealt with a quad injury, Buffalo limited his workload upon returning to the lineup. Wishnowsky stepped in as the team’s kickoff specialist during the final regular-season game and throughout the playoffs.
Before joining the Bills, Wishnowsky spent six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers after being selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
